Did you know that there are people who love Mondays? Those rare chipper people you run into on the first day of the week. They start off with a smile, they are the encouragers in the office, they are the ones many love to hate because of their cheerfulness! But just maybe they have it right.
Too many of us are like Garfield the cat. He hates Mondays, would rather sleep through Mondays. Monday is dreaded because it's back to the grind of work, routine, the busyness that seems to drain us of energy, of spirit.
But maybe there is something of Monday that can be redeemed. The day is filled with a newness that comes on no other day. It's a day that holds promise for something different, something new, some fresh experience. Monday is a new beginning and to enter it with the right attitude is to jump start a week filled with blessing.
One of my favorite scriptures is Psalm 100. It's one I almost always challenge my Disciple classes to memorize. It's a song of praise and a reminder of who we are with respect to God. It's the right one for a Monday, to set us on the right path for a great week. It'll be hard to pray this psalm without a smile and at least a hint of encouragement.
"On your feet now - applaud God!
Bring a gift of laughter,
sing yourselves into his presence.
Know this: God is God, and God, God.
He made us, we didn't make him.
We're his people, his well tended sheep.
Enter with the password, 'Thank You!'
Make yourselves at home, talking praise.
Thank him. Worship him.
For God is sheer beauty,
all generous in love,
loyal always and ever."
And he's watching out for us today! Give him praise.

I love Monday's. Monday is a fresh start to dig in and get some great things done that God has gracefully given me to do.
Monday's are so great that I am looking for a way to add a second Monday to each week(I think that has something to do with Balance), maybe I should be careful of what I am asking for!
